AfterSoft Network N.A., Inc a wholly owned subsidiary of Aftersoft Group, Inc., a leading provider of business automation and ecommerce solutions for the automotive aftermarket, is pleased to announce the general release of VAST Enterprise, Version 7 (VE V7), completed after months of design and development. This latest version is based on Microsoft's SQL server database platform. The previous versions of the application were developed using Microsoft Access.

"We have seen a marked improvement in speed and performance, and anticipate productivity improvements at store level and within our IT department, as a result of the upgrade to Microsoft's premium SQL database in the Aftersoft software," says Burt August, Director of Information Technology at Monro Muffler Brake Inc. "We are looking forward to installing VAST Enterprise 7 in all 740 of our Monro and Mr. Tire stores."

Among various enhancements and benefits included in this version:

* Data Replication services that allow for periodic data transmissions of all transactions from the POS system to a Multi-Store server

* Unique decentralized architecture allowing multi-location dealers to work independently while offering the benefits of a real-time central server based system

* Electronic Parts & Tire buying interface to the Activant(R) AConneX(R) gateway and Internet AutoParts (IAP).

* Enhanced reporting and invoice printing functions.

With VE 7's data replication feature, transactions are sent automatically throughout the day to the central server, which keeps the central system aware of all store activities. Because each store is running in decentralized model using its own SQL database, store locations are insulated from disruptions caused by the Internet or wide area network related outages.

"Medium and large dealers require the benefits offered by centralized systems for inventory availability, transfers and central customer bases, but many dealers resist this approach in favor of a more reliable decentralized system. Vast Enterprise V7 offers the best of both worlds, while ensuring that down time is minimized," according to John Fischer, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, AfterSoft, NA.

VE V7 also includes an optional interface that makes it possible for stores running VAST to electronically locate parts and tires, complete price checks, and order placement to connected suppliers. All electronic services are available to suppliers using Aftersoft's OpenWebs, or Activant AConneX(R) gateway enabled suppliers and customers. Examples of suppliers who have already adopted Aftersoft's OpenWebs ecommerce platform include NAPA and U.S.AutoForce(TM).
