Ipswitch, Inc. Announces New 6.0 Version of MOVEit Enterprise Managed File Transfer Solutions

Published: 08 October, 2008
Ipswitch File Transfer division, a leading developer of secure and managed file transfer solutions, today announced the latest version of its award-winning family of enterprise managed file transfer solutions, MOVEit.

The MOVEit Central work flow engine and the MOVEit DMZ server are production-proven secure managed file transfer (MFT) software products used by over 500 enterprises, large and small, to automatically process and securely transmit and store their most critical data. Depending on requirements, the MOVEit products can be run on a standalone basis or deployed together as an end-to-end secure MFT solution, and can be run on a high availability basis. MOVEit DMZ and MOVEit Central have well-earned reputations for:

-- Being quick and easy to deploy and upgrade;

-- Offering comprehensive feature sets that provide operational flexibility

and integration, for dependability backed by a superb technical support

staff; and,

-- Being very reasonably priced for the value provided.

The new 6.0 version further expands operational flexibility and integration, without a corresponding increase in price.

Microsoft SQL Server Database

Evaluators and licensees can now choose between using the commercially licensed MySQL database bundled with each copy of MOVEit Central and MOVEit DMZ, or a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database or cluster that they provide. This expanded database support provides tight MOVEit integration with and support for SQL Server, a widely-adopted enterprise standard.

Multi-Tiered Web Farm Deployment

MOVEit DMZ components can now be deployed across multiple network segments for enhanced security. The MOVEit DMZ application, its 256-bit AES encrypted virtual file system, and whichever of the two databases is selected, can reside on separate servers in separate firewall-protected network tiers. This provides extra protection for the sensitive data in the files that MOVEit DMZ receives, and for the configuration and permissions information that it uses. It enables the data to reside in non-public, restricted access locations, while allowing the security-hardened MOVEit DMZ application and its web interface to reside in a public, Internet-facing DMZ segment. Under this approach, sensitive file, permissions or configuration data is not stored in the public DMZ.

Enhanced High Availability

MOVEit Central and MOVEit DMZ have offered a reliable 'native' high availability option for many years, but the 6.0 SQL Server and multi-tier support enables components to be deployed in clustered server farms. Doing so eliminates potential single points of failure and enhances resiliency.
