Scanbuy Launches 2D Barcode Application for Apple iPhone
Published: 14 August, 2008
Scanbuy, a global leader in mobile marketing solutions, announced today that its ScanLife 2D barcode application is now available for free on the iPhone App Store. Scanbuy's technology uses the phone's camera to give users an instant connection to information, without needing to search by keyword or type in a lengthy URL. Individuals can also create and scan Personal EZcodes to link to their blogs or networking sites by registering an account.
"The iPhone represents a reinvention of the mobile phone that seeks to enable better navigation and easier access to information, making it perfectly compatible with Scanbuy's objectives," said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. "We are committed to expanding 2D barcode usage, and iPhone compatibility is a significant step in engaging key mobile adopters and reaching millions of new consumers worldwide."
ScanLife can launch any URL address and with Wi-Fi access, the application can also send a user directly to an iTunes page to preview and purchase a specific song or to watch a video on YouTube(TM).
The ScanLife Code Management Platform enables marketers and content providers to create and manage measurable 2D barcode campaigns and has already been used by brands like Citysearch and Discovery. It has been deployed and supported by leading mobile providers and handset manufacturers in the United States, Denmark, Spain, the Greater China region, Mexico and Brazil.
iPhone users can download the free ScanLife software from the App Store, while users on other phones can text SCAN to 43588 on their mobile browser. In addition to the iPhone, the ScanLife handset software is compatible with hundreds of other phones on every major mobile operating system including BREW, Java, Symbian, Palm, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.
