Zilog Introduces Enhanced Developer Studio II Toolset for Programming Embedded System-on-Chip Solutions

IXYS Corporation and Zilog Corporation, a wholly owned IXYS subsidiary and trusted supplier of application-specific, embedded system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for the industrial and consumer markets, today introduced an enhanced Zilog Development Studio II (ZDS II) toolset for programming SOC solutions leveraging Zilog microprocessors.

The ZDS II is a royalty-free, high-end toolset that operates on Windows 98SE/2000/XP/Vista-32 platforms and offers source code editing, debugging and program management all easily accessible from a singly fully-feature integrated development environment.

ZDS II Technical Details

The ZDS II feature set includes:

* Full ANSI Optimizing C Compiler;

* Macro Assembler;

* Editor;

* Linker and Librarian Tools;

* Project Manager;

* Workspace;

* Source-Level Debugger;

* and Example Code.

Additionally, newly integrated in ZDS II is binary code for Zilog's RTOS and TCP/IP libraries. Zilog's RZK RTOS is a preemptive, multitasking, real-time kernel that manages CPU resources to ensure that all time-critical tasks are processed efficiently including:

* Fast context switching;

* Small footprint;

* Modular design;

* Threads with up to 32 priority levels;

* Inter-thread communication options;

* Memory management;

* Ethernet, UART, I2C, SPI, RTC drivers;

* and embedded Flash file system and more.

Finally, the TCP/IP library, ZTP, is a full-featured software suite for the Zilog eZ80 Acclaim! family of microcontrollers that includes:

* Industry standard RFC compliant protocols;

* Core protocols: IPv4, TCP, UDP, ICMP and ARP;

* And also supports: HTTP/HTTPS, TFTP, SNMP, TELNET, SMTP, DNS, TIMEP, DHCP, FTP and more.
