SoftStep MIDI Algorithmic Composer (Basic) is a complete, MIDI step sequencer. Patterned after analog sequencers, the program provides a variety of fractal, chaos, probability, and numerical functions for music generatation. SoftStep records standard MIDI files, and drives MIDI synthesizers and sound cards in real time. It offers 9 sequencer modules and an additional 22 support modules (such as switches and clocks), allowing up to 99 copies of each module. Two upgraded versions are available for purchase. SoftStep LE includes additional math and logic functions, test-based switching, rhythm generators, and more extensive MIDI control options. SoftStep Pro is a comprehensive algorithmic composition program with fractal and chaos functions, image to music translation, Markov chains and other probability functions, and a rich set of tools to translate DNA/Protein data to music.(for Windows)
