By default Blue Ink generate an enterprise level, n-tier, Microsoft .Net web application written in C#. Blue Ink generates stored procedures for efficiency and security, a data access tier to separate DBMS specific operations, a business tier for business rules, a service interface for security, .ASPX pages, .ASCX web user controls, and business entities based on strongly typed data sets. The default generated application installs to a fully functional application without the need of the developer to write a line of code.

Blue Ink fully integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio and generated applications are based upon the best practices described in the MSDN documents: Application Architecture for .NET: Designing Applications and Services and Designing Data Tier Components and Passing Data Through Tiers. Blue Ink retrieves meta-data from SQL Server or Oracle and asks the user high level, customizable questions for the remainder of it's meta-data.
