With current Health and Safety Legislation risk assessment must be undertaken. One of these areas will be the use of keyboards, mice and VDU within the workplace as there is a risk of the employee suffering from repetitive strain injury (RSI). A control point maybe decided that due to the risk of this hazard occurring an operator of a PC may need regular scheduled breaks at specified intervals. In helping to implement this, BreakTime is an application that once run will inform the user when this scheduled break should take place. BreakTime is a small application which once running minimises and sits in the application tray. BreakTime will count down the minutes to the next scheduled break. When the break is due a screen pops up informing the user they need to take a break. This takes over the screen until the scheduled break is completed or the user cancels by clicking on the mouse. whilst this is not in itself a prevention for RSI it helps to deliver the employees message for taking regular breaks from typing. To demonstrate compliance full logging is available displaying when the break was advised, and whether the user rejected the break. BreakTime is a freeware application and governed by the GNU General Public Licence. This covers the user for both home and commercial use. During the Break period adverts will be displayed from our server. An internet connect is required to run BreakTime. Instruction are included in the download of BreakTime. This product is free!
