dObjects is an astronomical database of deep-sky objects that includes an observation logbook to help plan future observing sessions. An extremely flexible selection and sorting mechanism gives you infinite possibilities to locate or categorize the data. A powerful search and replace command lets you find obscure words or phrases in the database. Printed observing plans are easily used at the scope. Armchair astronomers can simply enjoy (and update) the wealth of information about the objects in the database. Each object in the database includes: position (epoch 2000 right ascension and declination, Constellation, Sky Atlas 2000 chart number, Uranometria 2000 chart number), ID (catalog numbers, nicknames), vital statistics (magnitude, size, surface brightness, classification, etc.), lists of references to the object in popular astronomy magazines and books, links to sites on the Internet, pointers to files on your local PC, as well as your observations and goals for future observations (you can import your existing observations from a text file). The database includes the following catalogs in their entirety: Messier catalog, NGC catalog, Index Catalog, Third Reference Catalog of Bright Galaxies, Tully and Fisher's Nearby Galaxies Catalog, Arp's Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies, Hickson's Catalog of Compact Groups of Galaxies. It also includes all objects in these popular observing lists: Jack Bennett catalog, Caldwell catalog, Astronomical League's Herschel400 and Herschel800 lists, RASC Deep-Sky Challenge Object list, Saguaro Astronomy Club's 110 Best of the NGC, and selected objects from other catalogs too numerous to list. The database is completely expandable for any additional objects you wish to include.
