tests the read/write speed of any drive. It works with any write-enabled drive, such as a hard disk or ZIP drive, by performing a series of DOS I/O operations. Drive Speed uses the most common sequential write and read operations performed via DOS functions 3fH and 40H. The results are displayed in kilobytes per second and MegaBytes per minute. It also tests file access speed and presents the results in operations per second. There are several test parameters that can be adjusted, and the results can be logged to a text file. Unlike many other benchmarking programs, DRSP measures an average and not a peak performance of a drive. The results are displayed in a meaningful form of KB/Sec and MB/Min (not just a number, such as 156.3, which does not really tell you how fast or slow your drive works). The program can also work with any physical or device-driven drive.
