Groove Mechanic is an audio capture utility designed to reduce noise when recording vinyl records and cassette tapes. This package takes audio coming into your computer's sound card from your stereo, and creates WAV files in the standard audio CD format. Groove Mechanic can capture a whole tape or LP side at a time and then separate the songs into individual WAV files based on the silence between songs. The program then removes or reduces clicks, pops, hiss, and rumble. A variety of filter parameters enable: pop detection based on vinyl play speed (33-1/3, 45, or 78 rpm)\; detection of wide clicks and/or small, medium, or large clicks\; and rumble cutoff frequencies of 20, 25, or 30 Hz. For repairing hiss, there are three sensitivity thresholds from which to choose.
