Hummingbird Inetd provides full UNIX daemon functionality for peer-to-peer TCP/IP connectivity. Hummingbird Inetd has the ability to conserve PC resources by listening for connection requests and launching server daemons only as required. It also reduces the load on the system by invoking Internet servers only as they are needed. Hummingbird Inetd provides PCs with the full functionality of a UNIX workstation, enabling peer-to-peer connectivity among PCs and workgroups (LAN or WAN) by implementing server functions for TCP/IP based applications. Hummingbird Inetd gives administrators the ability to manage remote user access by assigning permissions for enhanced PC security. With Hummingbird Inetd an administrator can selectively enable or disable daemons to accommodate local requirements allowing a larger number of sockets to remain free for other network applications.
