NoICE is a remote debugger for microprocessors. The program consists of a Windows host program and a small target-resident monitor. Remote debuggers are sometimes called ROM-monitor debuggers. The two programs communicate via RS-232, with an option to use BDM with the 68HC12. Working together, they provide you with most of the features of an in circuit emulator. NoICE supports the 8051, 68HC11, 68HC12, Z80/Z180, and 65(C)02 microprocessors. Features of NoICE include: support for source level debugging in C and assembler\; a disassembler, which may also be used without target hardware\; a mini-assembler\; memory display and editing in hex and high-level formats\; the ability to load Intel, Motorola, and Tektronix hex files, with various symbol formats, as well as IEEE 695 files\; a virtually unlimited number of breakpoints\; a hardware-free single step using automatically defined breakpoints\; support for the definition of symbols, which may be used in expressions and by the disassembler\; support for the definition of C data structures, arrays, and stack-based variables\; the ability to record and play back files of commands, and to define such files as macros\; utilities to extract line and symbol information for many assemblers\; and a file viewer for files of any size, in ASCII or hex. NoICE also includes on-line help in HTML format that automatically invokes your browser. The use of HTML allows you to annotate and customize the help system to meet your needs. NoICE may be operated via the menu and toolbar, from a command line, from command files, or by another application using DDE.
