The program can monitor the status of all SCSI, SSA, Fibrechannel, and IDE devices that are directly attached to your computer, providing you with a window of opportunity to gracefully remove data from a failing disk and take it offline before it is too late. It allows you to access the predictive-failure function native to most disk drives, such as those supplied by Fujitsu, IBM, Quantum, Seagate, and Western Digital manufacturers. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) Disk Monitor monitors a hard drive's head flying height, temperature, spin-up time, retries, and internal error logs. If a drive is running outside of a vendor's specifications, you are alerted to the fact by e-mail. The program also runs as a convenient icon in the System Tray area of the Windows taskbar.
