SampleCalc is a special-purpose calculator designed to convert between an audio sample's duration and its tempo. You tell SampleCalc how many measures a sample has and the number of beats per measure (i.e., the time signature, such as 4/4). With this information fixed, the tool is then able to calculate the sample's time length, measured in seconds, from its tempo, measured in number of beats per minute (BPM), or vice versa. Subsequently changing the number of measures or the number of beats per measure causes SampleCalc to automatically recalculate BPM, leaving sample length ("Time") unchanged. If you right click anywhere in SampleCalc, the program lets you browse to select a WAV file. SampleCalc then reads the sample's duration, enters it in the "Time&quot\; field, and immediately calculates the corresponding BPM based on the number of measures and beats per measure. SampleCalc can also calculate time/tempo stretch rate. This feature enables you to adjust the tempo to a fixed value and determine the change in time (or vice versa), as well as the percentage change from the original. This can be useful for matching the tempo of a sequencer song.
