Shred-X Secure File Deletion is a complete file deletion and data shredding utility that completely removes all traces of sensitive data from your disks. It prevents others from breaching your privacy or stealing your secrets by securely removing all traces of any sensitive files from your hard disk. Shred-X does this by using sophisticated overwriting algorithms which obliterate latent data on your hard disk, making your deleted files irrecoverable, even by expensive equipment. Shred-X achieves a secure deletion of your sensitive data by overwriting the file up to 35 times before deleting it, and then destroying the File Allocation Table cluster number and size information for that file. Shred-X is able to overwrite all slack space on your hard or removable drives. This may be necessary to remove information from spurious clusters remaining from previous Recycle Bin deletions. Shred-X can overwrite your Swap File\; and overwrites file cluster tails, to achieve complete deletion. You can also run Shred-X in schedule mode, where it automatically invokes Scandisk to ensure that all lost sectors are accounted for, and overwritten during a disk clean, then runs Defrag to remove evidence of the deleted file names from FATs.
